Tasting Notes: delicate butter greens
Description: A soft green tea with hints of sweet greens and butter. A light-bodied green tea with light buttery notes, subtle apricot undertones, and a green vegetal finish. Soft hints of buttered greens linger throughout each sip.
The appearance of this tea's dry tea leaf is said to resemble a monkey's hand which results in the traditional name White Monkey. This gentle green tea is an excellent addition to a green tea lover's collection.
White Monkey is grown at elevations of 3,000-5,000 feet in the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian province China. A delicate green tea that is crafted from plucking the first two leaves and bud from a tea plant. The leaves are plucked early in the morning within the first two weeks of the new growing season. This deliberate plucking technique results in tea leaves that retain their downy white hair, which is the sign of a young leaf, and have a delicate fresh sweet taste. After plucking, the leaves are gently steamed and then dried. This process results in a pale green tea, that almost seems like a white tea, with a delicate flavor.
