Matcha Culinary Organic
Tasting Notes and Use: Our premium Culinary Matcha has a smooth texture, delicate vegetal notes, and a vibrant light green color. Our organic Culinary Grade A Matcha is a high-quality Japanese green tea powder that is wonderful for matcha lattes, cold brew, smoothies, baking, protein shakes, matcha lemonades, and cooking. You can drink Culinary Matcha straight up but in Japan it's traditionally used for culinary applications because it's bolder than Ceremonial Matcha.
For this grade of matcha,
1 teaspoon equals approximately 1 serving.
1 serving is considered one 4-8 oz cup of whisked prepared matcha.
We offer this matcha is offered in two size bags:
- 100 gram (3.5 oz) approximately 50 servings
- 227 gram (8.0 oz) approximately 110 servings
Matcha Benefits: Research shows matcha can improve brain function and help you feel alert. It is also high in antioxidants, may help protect the liver by aiding in flushing out toxins, may improve heart health, and some research has shown it has a high amount of anti-cancer properties.
Origin and Cultivation: Our Culinary Matcha is harvested during the mid-Summer, which is later in the growing season than Ceremonial Matcha, and is ground into a coarser powder than Ceremonial Matcha. The result is a robust and bold matcha that stands up well to other ingredients for baking and for matcha lattes - oat/almond milk etc.
Both our Culinary and Ceremonial Matcha are cultivated from organic shade grown tencha* tea leaves at a tea garden in Shizuoka, Japan; they are then stone ground into the green tea powder at the same garden.
*Tencha refers to the fluffy, minimally-processed tea leaves that are specifically grown and prepared for matcha production. Tencha is what the leaves are called once they have been harvested, steamed, dried, and baked but have not been be stone-ground or finely milled yet. Once the tencha leaves have been ground into a fine powder, tencha transforms into the final product - matcha.
