Assam Bukhial Estate BOP-CTC
Tasting Notes: malty, rich, and bold
Description: The espresso of the tea world! A full-bodied Assam tea from the Bukhial Estate in BOP-CTC style leaf (broken orange pekoe - crush, tear, curl). A hearty Assam with a round mouthfeel and peaty and malty notes. The gripping and course flavor notes are balanced with a bright briskness. This tea is an excellent choice for those that love strong robust black teas such as Irish Breakfast.
This Assam’s strong flavor is due to the style of leaf and the geographical conditions of the tea garden. The style of small grainy leaf used in this tea offers more surface area of leaf, therefore, a deep and strong brew occurs. This geographical area of Assam has lower than average rainfall which makes the tea bushes grow slower than usual, and therefore, intensifies the flavor of the tea leaf.
This hearty black tea is produced in the northeast corner of Assam, India. The Bukhial Tea Estate is situated on the south side of the Brahmaputra River, in the Golaghat District, near the remote area of Nagaland. The Bukhial Tea Estate was founded in 1920 by the McNeil & Berry Company. Within the Bukhial Estate, high quality Assam black teas are grown on over 1500 acres of land. Bukhial's adherence to strict environmental and quality controls is second to none. The soil conditions and climate of Bukhial produces mellow, malty, rich, and smooth Assam black teas.
